From the recording In Protest of W (2007)
Lyrics
“Want a Revolution?”
Mister can I have a dollar, please?
I need a contribution.
Can you tell me will my suffering ease?
Got to find a solution.
The rich man sold off all of the jobs. Put the workers on a shelf.
The bigot calls me an ignorant slob. Thinks I did this to myself.
The public thinks I’m part of some mob. I’m out here all by myself.
You should fear retribution.
Or do you want a revolution?
Mister, tell me how would it affect you
If bad luck forced your life astray?
Would your lawyer do what’s right for you
If you didn’t have the cash to pay?
Would your spirits sink as folks turned away, and left you on your own?
Would you feel your life slipping away, living in a danger zone?
What if no one cared about what you might say, and left you to ponder where life’s gone.
You would want retribution.
Or, maybe, want a revolution.
Keep thinking distribution. You need to spread the wealth around.
Keep fearing retribution. What goes ‘round tends to come around.
Comes the revolution. Your lawyer ain’t gonna be around.
‘Cause there won’t be no rich anymore. Gonna take it all away.
There won’t be no poor anymore. Gonna give it all away.
No one going hungry anymore. All the people, everyday.
You better find a solution.
Or do you want a revolution?
Mister can you imagine a world free from destitution?
A free and just and loving world where all make contributions.
Where no man has to hold out his hand except in love and friendship.
Where all are free from the Tyrant’s hand without a life of hardship.
Where race and color and ethnic clan will not curb any fellowship.
Now you’ve seen the solution.
Do you want a revolution?
