“The 99” © 2011 John Gazzano
Had a really good job till it went offshore.
I can’t find that type of work stateside anymore.
All I find are jobs I wouldn’t take before.
Gave up most of my things just to stay indoors.
We are the 99.
Finished college but no one will hire me.
I serve coffee awaiting the recovery
My job search has taken on some urgency
Doesn’t matter; my parents are stuck with me.
Got insurance that won’t cover all my ills.
Seems they’d rather I died than pay doctor bills.
Why have insurance that’s denied at will?
Need a system that at least will pay the bills.
If we stick together
We can make it change
We can make this whole darn system
Rearrange
Turn out the bad guys
Bring the good guys in
We can have a party
For the people again.
Wall Street gambles, loses big, they turn out fine.
If I screw up it’s the unemployment line.
Millions looking at life as a long flat line.
Let’s send all the crooks to prison, all the time.
We are the 99.
